Surilli GSM is the new development board from Silverback, it is thin, light, and allows you to fly.

Surilli GSM is Arduino-compatible + audio/SMS/data capable cellular with in-built USB and battery charging. Surilli GSM with a SIM800 module is ready to rock. At the Surilli GSM, heart is at ATmega32u4 clocked at 8MHz and at 3.3V logic. This chip has 32K of flash and 2K of RAM, with in-built USB capability therefore no need to have a USB-to-Serial chip. It can also use as mouse, keyboard, USB MIDI device.

To make standalone projects, a JSTPH connector is added for any of 3.7V Lipo batteries and built in battery charging. Lipo battery is must to be used, it keeps the cellular module happy throughout the high current spikes. Plug USB in to the laptop to charge the battery at 500mA. The Surilli GSM will automatically switch over to USB power when it’s available.

Connect your Surilli GSM to the Internet or make phone calls with our trusted-and-tested GSM module. GSM cellular module (we use the latest SIM800H) the size of a postage stamp. This module can do just about everything.

  • Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900MHz - connect onto any global GSM network with any 2G SIM
  • Make and receive voice calls using an external 8Ω speaker + electret microphone
  • Send and receive SMS messages
  • Send and receive GPRS data (TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.)
  • Scan and receive FM radio broadcasts (yeah, we don't exactly know why this was included but it works really well)
  • AT command interface with "auto baud" detection
  • Pair-able Bluetooth client interface with SPP (for controlling the module) as well as audio.

You will also need some required accessories to make Surilli GSM work. These are not included!

  • 2G SIM Card
  • Lipo Battery - 500mAh or larger! This 500mAh battery, or this 1200mAh will work great.
  • External Antenna - slim sticker-type GSM/Cellular Quad-Band Antenna - 3dBi uFL, which plugs right in.
  • External Mic & Speaker - If you want to make phone calls, you'll also need this electret mic and mini 8 ohm speaker
